Valentine’s Day Ideas that Won't Break the Bank

Valentine's Day Roses

While many will splurge this Valentine’s Day, why not look for simple and affordable ways to show your appreciation for your loved ones and celebrate in a way that doesn’t break the bank? Here are seven ways to spread the love this Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank

  1. Indulge in Breakfast in Bed: Simple gestures like breakfast in bed become special when you take them to the next level. Make a huge spread of their favorite things on a cute tray and earn yourself extra brownie points if things like pancakes or waffles are heart-shaped and served with hot coffee and roses!

  2. Stargazing: While lying on a blanket outside may not work in the middle of February in Ohio, the Observatory Park allows you to do inside, socially distanced stargazing together! Couples can embark on a magical date at the Planetarium, complete with a romantic tour of the universe.

  3. Movie Marathon: One movie? That's just a regular Friday night. Give yourself permission to watch as many as you want! Start with Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet or embark on a trilogy like Before Sunrise and enjoy a luxuriously lazy evening on the sofa. Of course, you are going to need popcorn and heart-shaped candy to complete the evening!

  4. Dinner at Home: Use this holiday as the perfect excuse to try out that new recipe you’ve been putting off! Make it a special evening by dressing up, putting on your favorite music to dance to, and perhaps even a little candle light!

  5. Embrace Your Creative Side: Channel your inner Picasso with a little paint, a little wine (or soda), and a canvas! A virtual painting class will let you unleash your inner artists (or at least have a good laugh), and the finished results will be fun mementos to remember this unusual Valentine's Day.

  6. Don’t Forget Your Furry Friends: Bake some dog treats together and take your furry loved ones to the dog park.

  7. Bundle up in the Backyard: February might still be chilly, but make the most of it by dressing up in your warmest coats and building a fire. Bring out a bottle of good wine, toast some oversize marshmallows, play an outdoor game, and enjoy the outdoors during the time of year we are usually inside.

From all of us here at Unity Catholic FCU, we hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day, filled with lots of love and heart-shaped treats!
