How to Make a DIY Face Mask

DIY Mask

As rates of COVID rise, so do mandatory mask requirements. While wearing masks can be a huge burden, you can help turn a negative situation into a fun activity! Plus, reusable masks are way more environmentally friendly than single-use ones (and a lot cuter, too!) Follow these few simple steps for your unique, reusable mask.

DIY Instructions

First, grab some material. This can be from old t-shirts or new fabric from a craft store. Next, you’ll need some scissors and a tape measure. Cut your fabric into a rectangle - about 7 or 8 inches wide. You’ll then cut the side of the fabric to leave four half-inch strings as indicated in the graphic below:

Use the thin strings you made to tie the material around your nose and mouth so that the mask is comfortable, but snug. After taking your mask off, throw it in the wash to then be used again! We recommend that you make a few masks so that you always have a clean one ready. Also, keep in mind that your mask is only effective when you remain six feet away from other people.
