  • DIY Light Show - Don’t overspend on an organized light show. Get the kids in the car, pick up some snacks, crank the Christmas music, and take a ride around the neighborhood!

  • Hot Cocoa Bar and Movie - Have a movie night with a -peppermint- twist. Set up an at-home hot cocoa bar (toppings, fun mugs, candy canes) and have everyone craft their concoctions. Then, snuggle up to some holiday movies and keep the cocoa flowing.

  • Read Christmas Stories - Have each of your children choose what Christmas story they want to hear. You can either do separate nights for each story or set a dedicated evening to read them all!

  • Decorating Party - Throw on the holiday tunes, break out the Christmas decorations, and get everyone involved in decorating! Hit everything from the stockings on the mantle to the ornaments on the tree.

  • Clean Out the Pantry - Go through the pantry and clear out anything you can donate to a food drive. Have the kids help you deliver to your local church or donation center.

  • Craft Wreaths - Gather materials from the craft store or right from your own backyard. Shape a piece of wire, foam, or even an old hanger into a circle and get crafty!

  • Bake and Decorate Cookies - Bake cookies or other Christmas treats with your family and decorate them to be festive!

  • Paint Ornaments - Purchase plastic ornaments that your kids can decorate with markers and paint. Hang them on the tree and keep them for years to come.

  • Write Your Own Christmas Stories - Buy a few notebooks and markers and have your kids write their own Christmas stories and make illustrations. Then, have a reading party where the authors get to share their work!

  • Make Paper Snowflakes - Break out the construction paper and scissors and have everyone make paper snowflakes. Give them some scotch tape when they're done and have them decorate the house with their creations.

  • Throw a Gift-Wrapping Party - Make gift-wrapping fun! Have the kids help you wrap family members’ gifts, or have a wrapping party with your spouse for all of the ‘Santa’ gifts. Put on a movie or music and make sure you have snacks.
