The holidays are coming up, and that means that the most expensive time of year has officially arrived. Buying gifts for loved ones can add up, so here are some tips on how to save some moolah while holiday shopping!
Create a gift list! This can help you plan what you want to get, as a gift and how much you plan to spend on the gift. Pre-planning can help you budget for each gift.
Stick to your budget! Seriously! Write a budget this time, and stick to it so you can cut out all the extra spending!
Pay with cash! Bust out the paper and put away the plastic! By using paper money, you can physically see how much you are spending and you are more likely to be careful and watch how much you are spending.
Homemade gifts! This is a great way to give a thoughtful present without banging out the bucks for it. I have family members that always paints beautiful pictures to decorate our homes with, and we all love it! It doesn’t have to be a painting, but something homemade and from the heart is always special!
Use technology to keep track! There are tons of budgeting apps to download and keep track of spending!
Speaking of technology, browse Google for your item! Figure out what store has the lowest price and go from there!
Plan early! It is never too early for Christmas, just like how it is never too early to start budgeting for the holidays.
Cut out the “Latte Break”. Instead of “Treating Yo’ Self,” try to limit extra spending during the holidays.
Try something different, like Secret Santa, for this holiday season. When I think Secret Santa, I generally think of friends or coworkers doing it. Why not do it with your family? Draw names and create a spending limit! This is a great way to lessen the amount of gifts and save. It is also super fun with a big family!
Look into inexpensive holiday activities instead! Do things like driving to see Christmas Lights to get into the holiday spirit! There are a ton of free or inexpensive things to do to get into the holiday spirit!
